I remember how we all came to sing door by door and how we ended up in one door singing and at the end we enter the house, wich was normally my aunt’s house (she always had the best food) finish signing with our neighbours and family, to finish with a great meal, one of the best time of my childhood, we all came together as one big family to eat. To us, this was a special time, I had to spend some time helping my aunt with the food, sharing some laughs with my cousins and eating a lot, of course as a Hispanic for us there is not better time than the holiday season, we enjoy every single moment to the max, and now I can share all my memories and some dishes with my daughter, I’m sure they would do the same with their kids too.

And of course to make a huge plate of food you need good quality products, and I have the best by my side, just as La Morena® and Knorr®, as many of you already know, these products bring the flavor of your food to another level. As always my go to place to find and buy my favorite products is Walmart and you must go to the Hispanic aisle, where you can find the products I’m using today in my recipe.

Because this time of the year is so busy, I make the recipe simple and easy to follow, with ingredients that we all have on hand, and of course other products that as I told you before you can find at your local Walmart.
And of course, this rice is just perfect not only for this special occasion but you can easily make it as an easy dinner for a large gathering on a different occasion.

vivalamorena-liveforflavor-products-basicndelicious

My secret to the recipe? You ask, using Knorr® Chicken Flavor Bouillon Granulated Bouillon to make the broth for the rice and the sauce and to add a different kick to the sauce also, I added some La Morena® Chipotle Peppers in Adobo, I love how subtle the spicy flavor is in my sauce not overpowering thanks to the chipotle peppers.

My recipe is simple but big on flavor and you will find it so easy to make that I just want to read all the comments you’ll have for me at the end.

Arroz con Leche with Coconut and Cheese #SundaySupper

arroz-con-leche-with-coconut-and-cheese-sundaysupper

I do love all kinds of desserts, but my favorites are those that bring wonderful memories from my childhood. This arroz con leche, have a special place in my heart because my grandmother used to make it all the time as a number on dessert after our holiday dinner.

As one of our family favorite dessert, over the year I have been adding different toppings or ingredients to make it more interesting. Originally, the only difference in this recipe was the addition of raisins, and that is very normal, but we make all kinds of arroz con leche, this one is my favorite.

There is a restaurant in Costa Rica where they sell only typical food, you know, the kind of food you buy in restaurant around little towns, and the addition of cheese comes from one of my favorite restaurant over there, and I have to say is still one of my favorites.

I really hope you like it and please let me know your favorite Arroz con Leche flavor.

Like most of the latino families, mine is very particular about dessert, we need a delicious and sweet dessert after a good meal, and we always try to make something that it will be easy to share with everyone. In my house as a general rule, we have wine to pair with our dessert and the one we love is Sutter Home Moscato, this is a good sweet wine, perfect with dessert.

I love Sutter Home Wines, is a great option to take to my friend’s house when we are having a get together for any occasion. You must know the latino culture is very happy, we love to enjoy life, get together and have fun, we love to drink good wine and eat. We don’t need a special day to do it, just bring your favorite Sutter Home Wine and lets party.

#veranosutter #summervino #moscato

This is one of the reasons why I made Arroz con Dulce de Leche, is just perfect for sharing and great to enjoy warm or just a room temperature. You maybe are surprised that this recipe in particular call for Dulce de Leche and I’m sure you are like, that is a little weird, but, let me tell you Dulce de Leche is huge in Costa Rica, we use it in all our sweet desserts, pastries and more, and I’m so happy that I can find it here, because this Arroz con Leche won’t be the same without the flavor of this delicious sweet mixture.

cooking rice #summervino #veranosutter

And no, dulce de leche is not the same as caramel, so I’m sorry, this is a must for the recipe, but you can find it, I’m sure, besides, you will see how the flavor of the Sutter Home Moscato complements perfectly with the Arroz con Leche, is a match made for perfection.

I encourage you to make this recipe, let me know if you love it and don’t forget to Uncork the Moments, and try Sutter Home Wines, they will be your new go-to to any occasion.

Orange Glace Donuts #FoodieExtravaganza

Orange Glace Donuts #FoodieExtravaganza

Ok, let me start by saying that I love donuts! Thank you, I needed that, I’m so happy to participate this month in the donut event for #FoodieExtravaganza and I’m sure you are too.

This is a great theme to have especially this month for me living in Southen California, the weather has been wonderful not too hot and perfect for baking, wich makes me so happy because I love to bake during the summer time. I know most of the donuts are fried but some people love to bake them and let me tell you those donuts are pretty delicious too.

Now let me talk about my donuts, I know that the title said orange glace, but, I decide also  to present them in a different way and add the orange zest to the dough, this addition will make the donuts tastier and with a delicious citrus flavor. I’m sure you will love the flavor and this is a great opportunity to have some fun in the kitchen with your kids and let them decorate and cover the donuts and those little fingers in gooey goodies.

July has arrived and that means it’s time for another #FoodieExtravaganza! Each month we take turns hosting and selecting a foodie holiday associated with that month. Somehow in all the planning July was overlooked so in a mad dash in the second half of June, Lauren of From Gate to Plate told us to celebrate the doughnut. If anyone is keeping score, National Doughnut Day is actually the first Friday in June, but none of us are complaining to be celebrating one of America’s favorite breakfast treats today. July is National Culinary Arts month so let’s just go with that. Also in July: Fried Chicken Day (today, the 6th), Blueberry Muffin Day (the 11th), and Junk Food Day (the 21st).

Platano Maduro Cake with Black Beans and Fresh Fuit #RecetasParaMomentos #ad #CollectiveBias

Between all the things I do daily, one is for sure, I need to go to my favorite grocery store to buy the products I need for my recipes.
And let me tell you, from the moment I came to this country I shop in a Kroger banner store call Ralphs, my absolutely favorite for my everyday shopping.

#RecetasParaMomentos products

Not only is very close to my house, but it is also convenient and has amazing offers all the time. Vegetables and fruits are always fresh and they have a good variety of Latin products.
Of course this is very important to me, especially on those occasions when I want to make for my daughters a delicious and traditional Costa Rican recipe, and they love to come with me and sample some cheese, find the bread they love and of course help me with the list, very important is what my little one said, she always help with the list.

#RecetasParaMomentos brand products

I love going and know that I can find everything I need without having to go to another store.
For example, for this recipe, I needed very specific ingredients, such as ripe plantains, refried beans, and fresh fruits, these products represent a very important role in our nutrition, and culturally it is important for us to always eat products of excellent quality.

#RecetasParaMomentos recipe ingredients

Another thing the I love, is just how friendly is everybody, always helping us with what we need an excellent attitude, and I can’t forgot to mention the coupons and sales to help you save more money.

#RecetasParaMomentos recipe directions

But what motivates me to continue visiting my store Ralphs is that ultimately I love the variety, the environment and how convenient it is to buy.
It is truly one of the best supermarkets I visited, and I am a faithful buyer, I would not change it for another. Great prices, great deals, and I find everything I need.
So I invite you to make this recipe and to visit your store Kroger or a Kroger Banner store just like Ralphs.

Oh and don’t forget to let me know what you think about the recipe.

  2. Mix milk and cornstarch and add it to the mixture above, combine well and remove from heat. Have ready an 8x8 pyrex, place half of the mixture on the bottom, beans and the other half of the mixture. Maizena Tamal #SundaySupper

Maizena Tamal #SundaySupper

I want to start by saying that my father was a wonderful person and every time I think about him tears come out, I miss him so much and not only on father’s day but every day.

Ok, no more tears let’s talk about happy memories and the wonderful time we spend together. This maizena tamal was one of his favorites for afternoon coffee and I remember my grandmother making it all the time, it took me a while to master her recipe but I finally got it right.

I’m so happy to be able to make it for my husband and my daughters for this father’s day and to share it with my friends. And let me tell you a little bit about this tamal; in Costa Rica we have different kinds of tamles, we make the traditional with masa harina and the sweet kind made in this case with corn starch, yes as you can see this tamal is completely gluten-free.

One of the things we love about it is to make it and serve with a hot cup of coffee in the morning or the afternoon and is delicious at room temperature or cold. This is definitely one of my favorites and I’m so happy to be able to share it with all of you for this special day.

Classic Coffee Cake #FoodieExtravaganza

classic coffee cake #foodieextravaganza

This is my first time in months that I’m been able to post in this amazing party, and what a better way to do it than making a delicious coffee cake. This month we are celebrating coffee cake, and you know we have to have it at least once a week or maybe once a day.

I love coffee cakes and I made a different combination and different flavors but nothing beat the classic, and for me the simple the better. This coffee cake is just a mouth full of deliciousness in one bite and is super easy to make.

Many people think that coffee cake is a cake with a coffee base and it is really funny that my daughter want it a piece and ask me “does this cake has coffee? Well not it doesn’t and I think that it is name like that because it is usually eating with coffee and you know it was a great way to make people come and enjoy a cup of coffee with a delicious cake.

I want to say thank you to Lauren Mitchell from From Gate to Plate for bringing us a great party theme.

What is your favorite coffee cake? Tell I want to know…

It’s Foodie Extravaganza Day and this month’s theme is Coffee Cake with Caroline from Caroline’s Cooking is hosting What is Foodie Extravaganza? It’s when a group of bloggers get together and make a recipe using one main ingredient. Where do we get the ingredient? We look at The Nibble and pick something off of their list. Croissants are actually celebrated on January 30th, but it’s in January, so it’s fair game. You can check out our group Pinterest board for past recipes. If you’re a blogger, you can join along with us by requesting to join on our Facebook page. Now, on to the goodness being shared this month:

I’m sure you love anything cinnamon and this month we have for you a delicious display of all you can eat cinnamon bundt. Yes the #BundtBakers group got the creative hat and work really hard for this theme.

We have so many flavors combinations, and some of the most interesting bundts you have ever see. Me? well I went the classic route with a twist and prepare for you a delicious cinnamon bundt, but don’t think I did not add a twist because I add some cream cheese to the mixture and let me tell you, this cake is just perfect.

The perfect combination in this bundt and because I add two sticks of butters, yes I said two, the consistency of the cake is absolutely delicious. You will love how the cinnamon flavor is not to strong and how the tangy flavor of the cream cheese is subtle and perfect.

I want to know what is your favorite cinnamon recipe.
