Our Merienda always includes a bread or cake and I use as inspiration this great recipe  Honey Maid Dulce de Leche Peanut Butter Topper, change some ingredients and trying a different approach, you know how we as latinos love to eat a god piece of cake at any hour of the day.

Don’t worry this is a very simple and easy recipe and you will find it very useful, especially when it comes to feeding a crowd. And let me tell you my family was always in my house on time for Merienda and I never send anybody hungry bad to any shore they had for the rest of the afternoon.

A #ElenaOfAvalor Party Premier with Dulce de Leche Flan and Fun #Ad #DiMeMedia

This is part of a sponsored collaboration with DiMeMedia and Disney Channel. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

#ElenaOfAvalor viewing party table

One of the things that I truly love about Elena Of Avalor is the way she helps and takes charge of every challenge that comes to her hands. We definitely love the way the series encourages everyone to be better and to work through any obstacle.

Us, in particular, see a lot of Elena in our oldest daughter, as a big sister she has a lot of responsibilities and her little sister wants to be just like her. We love the fact she is always helping and eager to be better and learn every day.

#ElenaOfAvalor Preparations

She is very proud of her heritage and when I talk to her about Princess Elena Of Avalor she was absolutely happy. You need to understand my eleven-year-old is very emotional and we encourage her every day to be herself and not let anyone put her down.

Her name is Sofia and she is just the most wonderful girl ever. As we were putting our party together she was there helping me decorate the cake, playing with our guests and her little sister, making all kinds of decorations, getting ready for this viewing party was a family teamwork all the way.

#ElenaOfAvalor makign decorations

One of her favorites desserts was the Dulce de Leche flan. We made lots of food for our guest like picadillo de papa, some agua de frutas, chocolate cake and the flan. Yummy food to keep everybody well feeds while commercials because we did not want it to miss any moment of the premier.

My daughters are my life and I want them to share memories, stories, and ideas to their children. Princess Elena Of Avalor teach us the most important principles in life family is first, you can always say sorry, be yourself and the most important is you promise something to keep it because the most important people in your life can end it up hurt because of that.

#ElenaOfAvalor healping friends

We see a lot of Elena like I said before in our daughter Sofia, and nothing makes me happy than have a Latina Princess to which my girls can identify their self, share and learn at the same time with their friend’s new adventures and ideas to make a better life and get #ReadytoRule the world.

Oh, you are wondering now about that yummy dessert right? Don’t you worry, I have you covered, here’s the recipe for the flan.
And don’t forget to follow Elena of Avalor’s latest royal adventures! Elena of Avalor airs on the Disney Channel on Fridays at 7:30pm ET/6:30 pm CT and 7:30 pm PT!

Like most of the latino families, mine is very particular about dessert, we need a delicious and sweet dessert after a good meal, and we always try to make something that it will be easy to share with everyone. In my house as a general rule, we have wine to pair with our dessert and the one we love is Sutter Home Moscato, this is a good sweet wine, perfect with dessert.

I love Sutter Home Wines, is a great option to take to my friend’s house when we are having a get together for any occasion. You must know the latino culture is very happy, we love to enjoy life, get together and have fun, we love to drink good wine and eat. We don’t need a special day to do it, just bring your favorite Sutter Home Wine and lets party.

#veranosutter #summervino #moscato

This is one of the reasons why I made Arroz con Dulce de Leche, is just perfect for sharing and great to enjoy warm or just a room temperature. You maybe are surprised that this recipe in particular call for Dulce de Leche and I’m sure you are like, that is a little weird, but, let me tell you Dulce de Leche is huge in Costa Rica, we use it in all our sweet desserts, pastries and more, and I’m so happy that I can find it here, because this Arroz con Leche won’t be the same without the flavor of this delicious sweet mixture.

cooking rice #summervino #veranosutter

And no, dulce de leche is not the same as caramel, so I’m sorry, this is a must for the recipe, but you can find it, I’m sure, besides, you will see how the flavor of the Sutter Home Moscato complements perfectly with the Arroz con Leche, is a match made for perfection.

I encourage you to make this recipe, let me know if you love it and don’t forget to Uncork the Moments, and try Sutter Home Wines, they will be your new go-to to any occasion.

  1. In a pot on medium-low heat, cook the rice with the water, cinnamon stick, and cloves, until it doubles in size, about 15 minutes. Add milk, evaporated milk, butter, and nutmeg, continue cooking, simmer for 15 minutes and move constantly.
  2. Add orange zest, dulce de leche and sugar, simmer for another 10 minutes and keep mixing. Once ready and all the ingredients are well combine, let it cool completely, this will make the rice absorb the extra liquid and make it more rich and creamy.

Dulce de Leche Mousse with Crunchy Sponge #SweeterPascua #ad #CollectiveBias

In Costa Rica we celebrate Pascua with our family and friends and sometimes we just take our time to relax and enjoy the weather. Normally during this time of the year is very hot over there, so you will see a lot of families enjoying the beach during that time.

#sweeterpascua #walmart #chocolates

For those that don’t go to the beach, we stay at home enjoying all the celebrations and having some rest and family time. We also gather to enjoy a lot of food and delicious desserts. Yum! as I start thinking about dessert it came to my mind a bizcocho de dulce de leche that my grandmother used to make, and this is a secret please don’t tell anybody but, this was a “cake” with wherever we had on the pantry, one thing that my grandma was good at was to created delicious dessert using her imagination.

#ingredients #sponge 2

This bizcocho or sponge was our official Holy week cake, it was perfect, not to sweet and great because like I said before it is very hot during this time. We made it as a family and we were all involve in it, I was the official mixer, yep my grandma made me mix with a wooden spoon, she said no hay nada como una cuchara de madera.

#ingredients #sponge

Our Pascua or Holy week was the best I remember, and now I want my girls to get into this roots, that is why we went to Walmart to buy some delicious MARS candy specially:

  • M&M’s® Easter Sundae flavor

When it comes to our mornings, let me tell you that they are super busy and as my mom use to said nothing better than a “pancita llena” or nothing better than a full tummy before going to school.
And this is one of the reasons I want to share with you this super, super easy option for breakfast.

If you have some Eggo waffles in your freezer, this is the time to go ahead and try this recipe and if you don’t have them, don’t worry, just go to a near Target and buy all the kinds and different flavors you can find. Ok, back to the recipe, I will list the ingredients later but first let me tell you a little more; I love to serve my girls different options for breakfast every morning, and this sweet option is nothing but delicious. The first ingredient you need and is crucial to this recipe is Dulce De Leche, no caramel, a good Latina mom always have Dulce de Leche in the pantry, this is a most, and of course the Eggo Waffles and some fruit.

I recommend to use your kids favorite fruit and involve them in the making, this is very easy so it will only going to take about 5 minutes to make this breakfast. They will love it, but if you don’t have a lot of time, just make it your self and make one for you too, and have a quick family breakfast with the kiddos.
